Xavier Watkins, a Senior at PVHS, has been named student of the week. Xavier participates in CREST Bioscience, Link Crew, and he is the starting wide receiver for the PVHS Varsity football team.

Xavier had some thoughts on being named student of the week.

Xavier stated, ”I’m honored to be student of the week, and it feels good. I work hard and am surrounded by hardworking people.”

In addition, he stated, “I feel like I deserve to be student of the week, but if it wasn’t for my teachers supporting me, my great coaches, and the best teammates in the state, then I wouldn’t be where I am.”

Not only was Xavier recognized by Journalism as student of the week, but he was also recognized by his fellow students.

Eli Bible, a Senior at PVHS, had played sports with him in the past and had some special insight about Xavier as a person.

Eli stated, “He is a very inspiring person, and as a teammate he motivates everyone to do their best.”

Tyler Agan, a PVHS Senior, stated, “Xavier is a very good athlete and wide receiver, and he is very nice.”

Lastly, Nick Whipple, a PVHS sophomore, stated, “Xavier is a very talented football player.”

From an academic standpoint, Xavier had some thoughts in mind.

Xavier stated, “I feel that CREST gives me a huge advantage academically because it challenges and pushes me.”

In terms of college, Xavier revealed some ideas of what he wants to do for the future.

Xavier stated, “I would like to become a doctor once I graduate from college, and I want to play division one football in college. I do not have any specific ideas for where I want to go to college because I want to keep my options open.”

How would Xavier be able to balance all of these activities in college? He already does it right now.

While occupied with Varsity football and the CREST Bioscience workload, he is able to manage his time.

Xavier stated, “Having fun while doing all of these activities is very important because it is very easy to become stressed.”

Overall, Xavier is happy to be named student of the week. He felt that he could never do all of the things that he is doing without support from the his PVHS teachers and friends.
