In July, Netflix released a new original series called Stranger Things and has since taken the world by storm. The show takes place in Indiana during 1983. It follows a group of three friends who are looking for their fourth friend, Will, who disappeared one night. Somewhere along the way, stranger things start to happen when they find Eleven, a mysterious new girl.
For the past three months, all people could talk about was Stranger Things. I wanted to see what the big deal was so I decided to give it a try. I wasn’t really sure what to expect because everybody had a hard time describing what the show was about, but they all said the same thing: it was a really good show.
Season one only had eight episodes that were about an hour each. By the time I finished the first episode, I could tell I was going to be hooked. I started watching Stranger Things on a Friday afternoon and finished Saturday night.
After the first episode I had three questions: what happened to Will, who was eleven, and how were they related? I had to keep watching; the more I watched the more intrigued I became. Just like most shows, as some questions were answered, more questions came up.
The storyline was well written and as the season came to an end, I wanted more. The worst part about Netflix original series’ is waiting the year in between each season. I fell in love with the cast as they showed what friendship really is. I think one of the best parts about the show is how unique it is. There is no other show quite like it.
If you somehow still haven’t watched Stranger Things, add it to your list. It’s a must watch that lives up to its hype.
